Missed Connections

Sooo......I'm not in Prague. I'm actually at the Staybridge Suites just outside of Washington D.C. Why? It's kind of a long story....

The flight from Raleigh to D.C., which was originally supposed to take off at 4:59, actually left at 5:30. Which meant we missed our international flight from D.C. to Frankfurt, Germany.

Soooo David, Ashley and I waited in line at the United Airlines Customer Service Desk for 2 hours.

David and Ashley

That's Ashley and our new Russian friend.

David 30 minutes into the wait: "It's all about the journey"

After much groaning and complaining and refusing to accept that they had no hotel rooms to give us, we received unlimited food vouchers (which can only be used at the airport), a complementary hotel stay, and a free taxi ride to the hotel. This is all due to David and his limitless patience and hard-headiness. He seriously saved the day. I got so mad and upset that I took our first round of vouchers to the only food place still open (a knockoff Taco Bell) and bought dinner for everyone. I also have to give a shout out to Ms. Jackson, the United Airlines Customer Service manager that somehow managed to hook us up with all this awesomeness. And I plan on getting lots of snacks before the flight tomorrow, all thanks to United Airlines.

We went to try to claim our baggage, where we met up with Stewart. Everyone's baggage but mine arrived safe and sound in D.C. We made the decision to go ahead to the Staybridge Hotel (not to be confused with the Sagebrush) and stepped out to our taxi - where it promptly started to rain.

So. Now I'm at the hotel, it's pretty awesome (the guy at the front desk must have taken pity on us).

L-R: David, Me, Ashley and Stewart in our lovely hotel. Notice the good not-florescent lighting and the blue steel imitation from David

Yes. We (L-R: Stewart, partially hidden by the wall, me and Ashley) are all on our computers...

My new flight itinerary is:
United Flight 8833 (Operated by Lufthansa as LH417)
Washington to Frankfurt Departing at 3:30pm Arriving at 5:30am

Lufthansa Flight 3258
Frankfurt to Prague Departing at 8:20am Arriving at 9:20am

Hopefully take 2 will go better...

Hey Jessica!
I promised you an insightful comment so heres my best shot for now...

Airports suck, but at least you got a bunch of complementary stuff out of it :)

Haha kidding...there's been a bunch of rain in the DC area lately (I would know since I live here) and that has delayed a lot of flights due to the fact that storms have been accompanying the aforementioned rain. I love your pictures, especially the one where you are all on your computers in different areas of the room. I hope you enjoy your free food and I can't wait for your first post from Prague!!!

Just be happy you are not alone during the traveling, cause that would really suck!!!

btw, I hope you all ran in the DC airport just like if it were the initial airport scene in home along...
